The Shreve Family: A Session for Andrew

I had such a great time photographing the Shreve family.  I knew a lot about Andrew going into our session because his mom and I had connected quite a few times before.  Andrew is very sweet, passionate, and loving. He might be timid or talk your ear off about topics of interest! Elliott is a helper and a giver, he is a goofball, loves to make people laugh! Both of the boys were really sweet.  In fact, Andrew was very concerned with my being included in the family activities which was honestly, the sweetest. -Jamie Nicole Scott, photographer

Here is Andrews story:

“Andrew came into the world 14 weeks early. My pregnancy had been so incredibly easy up until that point and this was so unexpected. In a moment our world was turned upside down.He was 2 lb 3 oz and baked in my belly on hospital bed rest 2 life-saving weeks longer than the doctors anticipated. He came into the world crying and feisty. He is now a healthy and 48 lbs, and I cannot even fathom or remember how small he was then. Except that I have a vivid moment of meeting him for the first time, laying in his isolette, his wrist was as big around as my pinky finger. At a week old we got news that Andrew's lung collapsed and he had a bad brain bleed. We were devastated and we had no idea what it meant for him. He came home from the NICU 17 weeks later. April 24, 2009 was one of the best days of my life. Leaving the NICU felt like the end of Andrew's story but we did not realize that it was the beginning of a new story. It was quickly evident that nothing came easily to Andrew. He needed therapy to learn to hold a bottle, roll over, walk, talk, eat, drink, write, as well as a slew of medical issues. It seems one miracle right after another, here we are, 7 years later with our happy, bright, quirky, amazing little boy.”
